The Little Things | Why are details so important?
Being a Wedding + Portrait Photographer, I’m often asked a lot of questions, especially about weddings and wedding day details. A lot of #EBPCouples often wonder “Why are details so important? Why do you spend a good portion of time taking detail shots? Do you really need my shoes, save the dates, invitations, etc?” The answer to all of those questions is “YES!”
I love, love, LOVE shooting details! It’s probably one of my favorite parts of a wedding day. It gives the bride + groom a chance to remember every little thing about their special day. Especially if the bride + groom had someone personally hand-write their invitations! Or they might have included something extra special for each guest within the invitation!
A lot of people often think a detail is the bride’s dress or the groom’s shoes. Yes, this is true, but what about everything else? Maybe it’s the hankie that the groom’s Grandfather gave him for his special day; or maybe it’s the bride’s Mother’s photo that is attached to her bouquet in memory of her. Everyone deserves photos of those special items!
For my #EBPCouples, I ask for every single little thing that the bride + groom would like photographed, be put into a special bag on the day of the wedding. For the bride, I’m talking shoes, hair pieces, perfume, any type of jewelry, rings, flowers, save the dates, invitations, gifts for the flower girl or ring barer, and the list goes on! For the groom, his cuff-lings, shoes, watch, tie/bow tie, his ring, boutonniere, even socks!
This way, while photographing details, it helps the process go so incredibly smooth!
I wanted to showcase some of my favorite detail images from my 2018 wedding season! Check them out below! Comment which one(s) is/are your favorite(s)!!
