Wedding Wednesday | Featuring: Foster’s Bloom Room

Your florals are a vital part of your wedding day decor and they are the key element to bringing your vision and entire day together. Florals also help make your wedding unique to you and your groom by the thousands of options that are available. It’s amazing how no two bridal bouquets can ever be the same! Just stop for a moment and think about that. So, I recently sat down with floral designer, Ashley Foster, who is the owner of FOSTER’S BLOOM ROOM to get some insight!

While I was standing there watching Ashley put together an amazing arrangement, I was taken back! Not only by the amazing transformation of the inside of the shop, but just by her warm and inviting personality! It was in that moment that I realized, she creates her own brand of magic. It’s undeniable. She pulled different florals and used things that I didn’t even think of. I thought to myself that here in this shop, there is a whole world of art created daily.

Ashley’s putting her own mark on the floral world. She fell in love with florals when her Mother-in-law owned the shop. From that moment, she knew this was where she was meant to be. Ever since October 2019, she’s been the proud owner of Foster’s Bloom Room! Now, she’s mixing it up by adding a little boutique to her floral shop! Shoppers can come to order flowers, browse for merchandise and relax on her antique styled couch. Let me tell you, she’s got everything from mugs with adorable pups to calendars!

She’s not business all the time, people. Her favorite thing on a Friday is relaxing with her Hubby and handsome son, while binge watching their favorite Netflix show! Who doesn’t love that?! You’ll find her jamming out to some 90s throwbacks (umm hello – my FAV) and snowboarding in her free time. She’s an outdoor girl at heart! Check out some of the cutest items in her shop, plus her shop makeover! If you haven’t, get your cute little butt down there and shop around!

So how do you choose your wedding day florals?

Consider your venue. Depending on which type of venue you go with, you may be surrounded by gardens or maybe a romantic barn is more your style. Of course, I believe you can never have too many florals, but you always want to keep your venue in mind when thinking of them.

Think about the color palette. Of course you want the bridesmaid bouquets to coordinate with their dresses.  Florists specialize in pairing colors and styles, so it can be helpful to take swatches to your florist when finalizing your florals.  You will be amazed at how your florist can use hues and textures to really bring your vision to life. Long ribbons are also a great way to incorporate pops of your wedding colors!

Think about your budget. If you want to stick to a budget, you are going to need to choose flowers that are in season during your wedding. Work with your florist to find the perfect and adorable flowers you love. There are also little tricks such as using bridesmaid bouquets as centerpieces, and having your wedding coordinator move ceremony decorations to the reception area during cocktail hour.  You can also make your soon-to-be husband stand out by only having a boutonniere made for him.  On the other hand, if you have a bigger floral budget, go for it!  Hanging floral rings in your reception area or floral arches at your ceremony site are stunning every time!

Don’t forget the details. Adding flowers to your cake is always stunning and an amazing touch!  Or maybe you want a real petal aisle – just ask your florist to save the damaged flowers to use.  Tall centerpieces can add wonderful dimension to your reception, or maybe you want simple little vases with candles.  Tying flowers to the aisle chairs for your ceremony is such a romantic touch.  Putting flower vases on your bistro tables at cocktail hour and adding flowers to your seating chart are some simple little details that will make a big impact on your wedding day.

The most important thing is that your florals are exactly what you two want for your special day! Even if this means that they’re a little bit different than anything you’ve seen done before.  Maybe you want bright colors, maybe you want soft neutrals, maybe you want all greens! Whatever you decide, make sure you LOVE them just as much as your future Hubby (well almost 😉 )!
